Minimum Buy-in at Cake Poker is now 30BB

26.03.2010 -

Minimum buy-in at Caker Poker No Limit Holdem tables has been raised from 20BB to 30BB. This new rule aims to keep short stackers to the newly created ‘Shallow-stack’ tables where they can practice their strategy with like minded players.

Full Tilt first introduced this concept following a series of complaints from frustrated players who were worried about short-stacking. The strategy of buying-in at the table’s minimum, pushing and folding, and leaving after double up kills a table which is nobody’s interest, especially that of the poker room.

Although it is not illegal or against poker ethics to short stack, Cake Poker has followed the example of Full Tilt. The shallow-stack tables’ buy-in ranges between 20-50BB and will not affect Cake Poker’s PLO and High Stakes No Limit Holdem games due to lack of sufficient player base.
